EU to help reconstruct roads to connect the Eritrean ports to Ethiopia

The EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, is currently visiting Eritrea. He met President Isaias Afewerki from Eritrea to launch a project to link the road to connect Aetia's boundaries to the Eritrean ports with an original investment of € 20 million.

The project will be funded by the EU Fund for Africa Fund and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), according to the report.

During his visit, Neven Mimica will meet with President Eritrea Isaias Afwerki to discuss the situation in the area and explore ways of the EU and Eritrea; Bring close political relationships and talk about issues that concern both sides.

According to Commissioner Mimica "The European Union is committed to supporting Eritrea and Ethiopia in delivering the historic peace agreement, which ended twenty years of conflicts. We are launching a € 20 million program to reconstruct the roads that connect the two countries. This will support trade, consolidate sustainability, and they will have clear benefits for the citizens of both countries by creating sustainable growth and jobs. "

Eritrea and Ethiopia agreed to peace agreement in July last year, which ended 20 years of problem. Since then both countries have gone through a different exchange and visit the new relationships. Etheria has also been in the process of re-integrating its port facilities for its use with Ethiopia.
