Major General Mehari Zewde Gebremariam was the leader of the United Nations interim security forces

The General Secretary of the United Nations António Guterres was formerly named Major General Mehari Zewde Gebremariam from Ethiopia – United Nations Interim Protection Agency's Head of the Abyei.

Major General Mehari Zewde replaces Major General Gebre Adhana Woldezgu who completes his duty on April 23, 2019, according to a United Nations report.

The UN report reported that Major General Gebremariam had more than 37 years of experience in the Ethiopian Defense Force and is also a member of the National Defense ministry council.

In his final situation within the ministry, he was Head of the National Human Resources Protection Division of Human Resources and was responsible for the management of human resources of the Defense Force.

Last week, three Ethiopian troops were killed in Abyei on the fall of Ethiopian Helicopter in the United Nations Interim Defense Force center for Abyei (UNISFA).
