After several weeks of falling, levels of measles in Ukraine are rising again, the Ministry of Health's Center for Public Health said today.
In the 13th week of 2019, 2,254 people – 1,133 adults and 1,141 children – were complying with measles. In March 22-28, areas with the majority of the cases reported are Kyiv (260 patients: 139 adults and 121 children), Kiev (200: 123 adults and 77 children), Khmelnytsky (177: 93 adults and 84 children), Lviv (165: 48 adults and 117 children) and Kharkiv (160: 91 adults and 69 children) areas.
From the beginning of the year, 35,002 people – 15 886 adults and 19 116 children – were infected with measles, including 14 deaths.
Tomorrow, 2 April, local authorities will meet Khmelnytsky's Regional State Administration and Minister for Health, Dr. Ulyana Suprun and Director of Public Health Center, Dr Volodymyr Kurpita, to discuss emergency measures against measles in the area. The aim is to increase the level of vaccination to protect local people from measles.
For reliable protection of a disease, every child has to find out both the first and second parts of an infection of the measles in good time.
