After more than 3,000 fires and more than 100 people have been injured, the National Traffic Safety Administration has officially opened an inspection for the reported Hyundai and Kia engine fires, according to Reuters. This topic is only new at a national level. In the past, the survey was restricted to a number of US states and an Auto Safety Center, a vehicle user rights group, but this situation is much worse than originally expected.
The NHTSA is now exploring 3 million Hyunis and Kias, in particular the 2011-2014 Kia Optima and Sorento, 2010-2015 Kia Soul, and the Hyundai Sonata 2011 and 2014 and Santa Fe. Automobile people in South Korea have already returned 2.3 million vehicles since 2015 because of fire engine issues and the NHTSA has also investigated this.
