Rotterdam – World's greatest warrior Raymond van Barneveld has retired from visiting professional sports outside the Rotterdam League. "Barney" called his decision after the 1: 7 defeat of the World Championship, Michael van Gerwen. "I've made a decision, I'm through," said van Barneveld to Sky UK.
"I don't want this pain anymore," said the Dutch man, who first wanted to finish his job after the 2019 World Cup at the end of the year. "Weekly pain is in the last three or four years," said van Barneveld.
The 51-year-old won the five World Cup titles from 1998 to 2007, four times at the British Darts Group (BDO) and once at the Darts Professional group (PDC). In the PDC World Championship 2009 finals, van Barneveld made history with the inaugural tour of nine games.
