That's according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which says the meat under recall, from Majestic Meats, only went to Utah eateries.
The bulk ground beef, ground beef patties and meatballs being recalled were produced on Nov. 8. The product list can be found here. No list of restaurant clients was provided.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number "EST. 19915 "inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped only to restaurants in the state of Utah.
"The problem was discovered on Nov. 15, 2018 when FSIS identified that product associated with a sample that confirmed positive for E. coli O157: H7 had been shipped, "a FSIS news release says.
"The establishment held two of the three boxes of source material associated with the sampled product, however, the third box of source material was further processed and shipped. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. "
Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
"E. coli O157: H7 is to potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps two to eight days (three to four days, on average) after exposure to the organism. While most people recover within a week, some develop a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), "the FSIS statement says.
"This condition can occur among persons of any age but is most common in children under 5 years old and older adults. It is marked by easy bruising, pallor, and decreased urine output. Persons who experience these symptoms should seek emergency medical care immediately. "
