An initiative to ban plastic straws at the National University of Singapore (NUS) was meant to be a move towards environmental sustainability – but for some students, it was tough to swallow.
Shortly after the launch of the iReject campaign last month to curb the use of single-use plastic straws at certain food and beverage outlets on campus, some students posted images and videos of themselves slurping drinks through plastic straws.
